Richard Homeier has been a practicing optician since 1964 and is the owner of Optical Perspectives in Estes Park, Colorado. Richard holds both ABOM and NCLE-A certifications, and has been teaching ABO course material since 1991. Richard has twice been President of the Opticians Association of Kansas and has served on the Colorado Board since 1999. During his career as an optician, Richard spent six years in Africa where he built small optical laboratories and trained workers in 17 countries. Richard is also a contributing writer for Vision Care Products.

Dr. McDonald is currently the Director of Continuing and Distance Education at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, a constituent member of the University of North Carolina System. He is a Licensed Optician in the State of North Carolina, and serves as a consultant to a number of ophthalmic and general health care organizations in the areas of staff development and training, practice management and specialty contact lenses.

Dr. Porter, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Saint Louis University’s Eye Institute where he also serves as director of the Low Vision Service. He also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Saint Louis University as well as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Optometry at the University of Missouri-School of Optometry in St. Louis.

Darryl Meister is the Technical Marketing Coordinator for Carl Zeiss Vision, one of the largest manufacturers of ophthalmic lenses in the world. He has been active in the optical industry since 1990 and holds both the ABO Master in Ophthalmic Optics certification and the OAA Refractometrist certification. Mr. Meister is a representative to both the American National Standards Institute and the Vision Council of America's Lens Technical Committee. He is also a recipient of the National Federation of Opticianry Schools' Advancing Opticianry Education Award. His workbook, Introduction to Ophthalmic Optics, is currently in use at many schools of optometry and opticianry. He writes and lectures regularly on ophthalmic optics, lenses, and dispensing.
