Optician Success 51
In life, it doesn’t matter what happens to you or where you came from. It matters what you do with what happens and what you’ve been given. And the only way you’ll do something spectacular is by using it all to your advantage.
Reinventing Retail - Experience-Driven Commerce
“I’m not interested in competing with [Amazon]. What I’m interested in, is what can I do offline that they can’t do online; then, what can we introduce to that experience to further enhance it.”
Partner For Success
As discussed in the above video, central to Rachel’s success are her partnerships.
A good example, eye2eye Optometry Corner in Alexandria, VA, partners with a popular neighborhood clothing boutique, to dress up the shop's mannequins with their frames. You too, can find a nearby boutique that has a similar style. Every time they switch out their windows or mannequin displays offer them the use of your latest sunglasses and most fashionable frames to complete their looks in exchange for placing a small placard with your office's information on it.
Or, perhaps even better yet… offer to bring a clothed mannequin or two to your store, to showcase your frames and their clothing.
Of course, there are any number of ways you can partner with other business, to help grow yours.
"We think it's a cool and creative way to support our community," says owner, Dr. Dora Adamopoulos. Not to mention it's an easy way to get your name out to the fashion-conscious community in your area.
Eye2eye does many things well. Read more about them in Invision Magazine.
Do you have any creative partnerships with global companies like Rachel or local companies like Dr. Dora? If so, reply and let me know. I’d love to hear about them.
Fighting a surge in deep discounters, direct-to-consumer companies, and online retailers, sounds familiar right? Well, it doesn’t paint a pretty picture for… funeral home directors.
Yep, there is much to be learned from other industries undergoing the same struggles you face. Funeral homes are no exception, particularly if you understand your customers well enough to know why they buy from you and more importantly why they do not.
How about, just bullets, just diseases, just starvation?
The whole "sticks and stones" canard is really dangerous. When a stone gives you a bruise, it's entirely possible you will completely heal. But when a torrent of words undermine your view of what's possible, you might never recover.
Words matter. They can open doors, light a way and make a difference.
