Independence is not a state of being, as much as a guiding principle. More than choosing not to follow, independence is a decision to find your own path, to draw your own map, and find your own tribe. The choice is often not an easy one. Independence is said to be a choice of freedom. But, you have to ask, freedom from what? freedom from worry? freedom from responsibility? freedom from challenges, hardships, and failure? Certainly not. Freedom from control perhaps, but little else. You've simply made the decision to steer your own ship, for better or worse. To those of you who've chosen independence in any form, we salute you, because we know how difficult it can be. More importantly, its a choice that we identify with wholeheartedly and understand the rewards (not always financial) are often worth it.
